Rack and Ride: When Boards Become Part of the Furniture
In Bordeaux, an architect, a web marketer, and a wood craftsman, set out to solve a familiar problem for board lovers: how do you store your gear without hiding it away?
The result is Rack and Ride, a young French brand turning surfboards, skateboards, and snowboards into part of the home, not just something you take out when the weather’s right.
From the Garage to the Living Room
Born in 2020, Rack and Ride began as a practical idea between riders who shared both a passion for design and a small apartment problem. What started as a simple need for better storage grew into a design philosophy.
Each rack is handmade in Gironde, France, using traditional woodworking techniques. Architect Florian shapes the designs, craftsman Eric brings them to life, and Simon ensures their story travels far beyond Bordeaux’s surf scene.

A Dialogue Between Craft and Sustainability
Rack and Ride’s ethos sits at the crossroads of design and environmental respect. The materials tell their own story:
-
Solid oak from nearby Dordogne, chosen for its strength and timeless look.
-
Natural cork padding to protect rails and trucks from scratches.
-
Eco-friendly finishes, using homemade blends of linseed or hemp oil with beeswax, natural treatments that make each piece water-resistant and subtly fragrant with wood and wax.
-
Recyclable packaging, closing the loop from workshop to doorstep.

Design That Rides the Line Between Function and Art
Rack and Ride’s racks aren’t hidden in a corner, they frame the boards. A vertical skateboard wall mount, one of their most celebrated designs, supports the board by its trucks, displaying its artwork like a painting. Their surfboard rack, solid and minimal, looks equally at home in a beach house or a city loft.

Living With What You Love
What’s striking about Rack and Ride is not just the craftsmanship, but the philosophy behind it. It’s about surrounding yourself with what moves you, literally. To live among the tools of your passion, even when you’re not on the water or the pavement.
